For golfers on the East Coast, there’s no shortage of destinations for a memorable buddies trip. But one place that deserves far more attention is Ocean City, Maryland. Tucked along the coast and within driving distance of many major Northeast cities, Ocean City combines outstanding golf, incredible seafood, vibrant nightlife, and beach-town charm into one surprisingly complete golf getaway.
Even from the Carolinas, the drive is well worth it. After spending a few days exploring the area, it became clear why more golfers are starting to put Ocean City on their annual trip rotation.
Here are three reasons why Ocean City, Maryland should be at the top of your list for your next golf trip.
-
The Golf - I was only able to check off 3 courses during this trip, but they were some good ones. The Links at Lighthouse Sound delivers incredible bay views and a true links-style experience that makes every hole memorable. War Admiral at GlenRiddle combines outstanding conditions with a layout full of strategy, history, and shot-making opportunities. Eagle’s Landing offers a completely different feel, winding through scenic marshland with a peaceful atmosphere and challenging design. Together, these courses showcase why Ocean City deserves more attention as a premier East Coast golf destination.

The Food - It's not a good golf trip unless some great meals are enjoyed. The food scene in Ocean City might be just as impressive as the golf. When you're finished playing at GlenRiddle, be sure grab lunch or dinner at the on-site Ruth's Chris Steak House. For a unique dining experience, you can have a great dinner inside a wine and craft beer store at Liquid Assets. For a laid-back meal with fresh seafood and drinks, be sure to check out Sneaky Pete's. Breakfast at Barn 34 is the perfect way to start the day before heading to the course, and no trip feels complete without stopping at Dumser's Dairyland for some ice cream!

- The People - What truly makes Ocean City special, though, is the people. From the staff at the golf courses and restaurants to the locals and fellow golfers you meet along the way, there’s an easygoing and welcoming atmosphere everywhere you go.
Trips like this are always made better by the people you share them with. Between the great shots, the missed putts, and everything in between, there were plenty of laughs, stories, and memories created along the way. From the golf course to the dinner table, great times were had with old and new friends.
That’s what makes Ocean City such a perfect golf trip destination. It’s more than just great courses and great food — it’s the kind of place that brings people together.
