How do you remember a bucket-list course, an unforgettable golf trip, or the round of your life?
Last April, I had the opportunity of a lifetime to play The Old Course at St Andrews, Scotland, alongside one of my best friends, Jonathan, and two new friends, Andrew and Adam. Not only did we experience The Old Course in its traditional routing, but we were also fortunate enough to play it in reverse—a truly rare and unforgettable experience. If you’re curious, we recently released a short film that captures the story of that trip.
The memories from that week will stay with us forever—but we wanted a tangible way to preserve them.
Jonathan and I reached out to our friend, Sam Van Galder—an artist and former guest on The Hole Story Podcast—and asked him to create something special using an actual scorecard from The Old Course. What he produced was nothing short of a masterpiece.
Sam is both a talented artist and an exceptional golfer, and he blends those passions by creating detailed, hand-painted artwork directly on the scorecard itself. The craftsmanship and attention to detail are remarkable. Every time I look at the card, I find myself transported back to St Andrews, reliving the moments shot by shot.
The next time you want to remember a meaningful chapter in your golf journey, grab an extra scorecard and let Sam turn it into something you’ll treasure forever.
