The Challenges of Playing in The Open Championship

Golf is hard. When it comes to The Open Championship, challenges are magnified by the unpredictable and ever-changing elements that players must face. As the oldest and most prestigious golf tournament in the world, The Open Championship presents unique obstacles that test the mettle of even the most seasoned professionals. The 2023 Open at Royal Liverpool will be no different.

First, it's a challenge because it's a major. Majors are never easy. Competing against the best players in the world (yes, including the LIV guys that qualified), throw them on a course they rarely play (and it's a links-style course), add in unpredictable weather...and you never know what's going to happen. It really is a great test of golf and one that many look forward to every year. Those of us in the U.S. will set alarms much earlier than normal to catch a glimpse of the action while dreaming of making the trip across the Atlantic to play the links one day.

The Champion Golfer of the Year will earn his place in history as he hoists the Claret Jug on Sunday afternoon. Having your name etched on that trophy has to be one of the best accomplishments in golf right next to your own green jacket waiting for you at Augusta National. Wherever you are over the next four days, find some time to enjoy The Open Championship and appreciate it's greatness.
