The Open Championship - Final Thoughts

The Open Championship - Final Thoughts

As the 151st Open Championship comes to a close, here are some things that stood out.

    1. Brian Harman - Quiet Domination. Tiger dominated golf for a long time. Every now and then we'll get a few examples of single-tournament domination Brian Harman quietly dominated The Open Championship this year at Royal Liverpool. The world was waiting on a bad bounce, tough break in the fescue, or the elements to impact his game. It didn't happen. Congrats to Brian on your 6 shot win and first Major!
    2. Matthew Jordan - A member of Royal Liverpool since age 7 (impressive in itself since the rest of us were "members" of our local elementary schools), given the honor of hitting the opening tee shot on Thursday, and then he finished -4 and inside the top 10. Well done Matthew!
    3. Viktor Hovland's Friday outfit - bringing back the 80's windbreaker look.
    4. Will never like the yelling immediately after a shot in a golf tournament. Add in audibly cheering against someone to win. Cheer for your golfer and appreciate the others if they're beating your favorite.
    5. Interesting that The Open Championship and the Tour de France ended on the same day and within about 20 minutes of each other. Jonathan & his family were in Paris to watch the final stage today!
    6. Scottie Scheffler - Finished T-45 at the CJ Cup last October to start the new season and T-20 at The Open this week. His worst finish in the 19 events in between is T-12. Incredible season!
    7. Who will the Ryder Cup Captains pick for their teams after the last Major of the year? Who will they leave out?
    8. UK Golf Guy will be the guest on The Hole Story Podcast this week to recap The Open Championship and give us great stories about the amazing golf in the UK.
    9. BestBall on site at Royal Troon next year?!?!
